The Xiaomi 18 Pro Series global launch is officially on the way. Xiaomi confirmed that its new Pro phones will reach markets outside China this year, shortly after introducing the Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max at its September 23 event. That is a welcome change for buyers who could not get last year’s Xiaomi 17 Pro models through an official global release.

Xiaomi has not shared a global launch date, a country list or international prices yet. Its official announcement confirms the broader release, but India availability remains unconfirmed. Here is what the China launch tells us so far.

What Xiaomi confirmed for the global launch

Both the Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max are part of the global plan. Xiaomi says the series is coming this year, although it has not said whether the two models will arrive together in every market. Buyers in India should wait for a separate local announcement before treating an India launch as certain.

The announcement matters because Xiaomi kept the Xiaomi 17 Pro lineup in China. The rear display, which sits beside the camera lenses, will now have a chance to reach more buyers. The new phones also add a privacy display feature designed to limit what people beside you can see on the main screen.

Xiaomi 18 Pro and Pro Max: the main differences

The Xiaomi 18 Pro has a 6.4-inch main display, a 2.7-inch rear display and a 7,000mAh battery. It uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chip. The Pro Max moves to a 6.9-inch main screen, a 2.9-inch rear screen and a larger 8,500mAh battery, along with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. Both main displays support a 120Hz refresh rate.

Camera hardware is similar across the pair: a 200MP main camera, a 200MP periscope telephoto camera and a 50MP ultrawide camera. Both phones run HyperOS 4 and retain the small screen on the back for quick information and camera use. These are the China model specifications; Xiaomi may confirm regional details closer to the international release.

What can you do with the rear screen?

The small display is more than a place to show the time. You can use it to frame selfies with the main cameras, check quick information and keep useful cards on the back of the phone. Xiaomi has also talked about creating small tools for tasks such as reminders and timers. We covered those Versatile Back Screen features when Xiaomi first showed them. Now that the phones have launched in China, the question is how often people will actually use the second screen in daily life.

There is also a practical difference between the two phones. The regular Pro should be easier to hold if you prefer a smaller flagship, while the Pro Max gives you a bigger screen and a larger battery. The China launch specifications show the main camera setup is shared, so you do not have to choose the larger model only to get the 200MP cameras. We still need real-world tests to know how the battery and privacy display perform.

China price and what remains unknown

In China, the Xiaomi 18 Pro starts at CNY 5,999 for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage model. The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max starts at CNY 6,999 with the same memory configuration. Those are China prices, so a direct currency conversion would not tell us the eventual price in India or other countries.

For now, the clear update is that the Xiaomi 18 Pro Series global launch has Xiaomi’s confirmation. The exact timing, markets, variants and local prices still need an official announcement. We will update this story when Xiaomi shares those details.
