Xiaomi has given the first official look at its upcoming foldable, the Xiaomi 18 Fold. The company confirmed that the phone will launch in China on September 7, just two days before Apple’s expected foldable event.
Unlike traditional book-style foldables, Xiaomi is calling this a “mid-fold” design. When closed, the phone is roughly the size of a passport and is designed to be easy to hold and use with one hand. When opened, the wider inner screen offers a more comfortable canvas for videos and multitasking.
Design and Displays
Official images show the Xiaomi 18 Fold in a striking Nishino Red colour. The phone has large rounded corners and slim bezels.
The cover display measures 5.38 inches, while the inner foldable screen is 7.58 inches. Xiaomi says the wider aspect ratio of the inner display makes it better suited for side-by-side apps and media consumption without needing to rotate the device.
The company has also introduced a new “dragon bone” hinge. This updated hinge is designed to reduce the visibility of the crease and improve durability.
Camera Setup
The rear of the Xiaomi 18 Fold features a horizontal camera module that houses three lenses and an LED flash. Xiaomi has confirmed that the camera system is co-designed with Leica.
Leaked details earlier suggested a triple setup that includes a main camera, a 3.5x optical zoom telephoto, and an ultrawide lens, though official camera specifications will be confirmed at the launch event.

Performance
The Xiaomi 18 Fold will be one of the first devices to use Xiaomi’s in-house XRING O3 processor. The company has previously highlighted strong performance gains with this chip, including high multi-core scores and improved power efficiency.
It is also expected to support LPDDR6 memory.
Positioning
By moving the foldable into the main “18” series and dropping the older MIX Fold naming, Xiaomi is signalling that foldables are now a core part of its flagship lineup rather than experimental devices.
The September 7 event will also include other products such as the Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro Max and new N-series phones.
