Most wireless earbuds go inside your ears, which isn’t always comfortable if you wear them for several hours. Vivo is trying something different with its new Buds Clip. Instead of sitting inside the ear canal, these Vivo Buds clip around the ear and leave it open.

Vivo has launched the Buds Clip in China alongside its new X500 series. They come with 12mm drivers, Hi-Res Audio Wireless, LDAC support and up to 42 hours of total battery life. Vivo has priced them at CNY 599, which is roughly ₹8,600.

Vivo Buds Clip Use an Open-Ear Design

The design is the first thing you will notice about the Vivo Buds Clip. Each earbud uses two sections connected by a flexible titanium alloy bridge. You simply clip it around the side of your ear instead of pushing an ear tip inside.

Each earbud weighs around 5.2 grams. Since the ear canal remains open, you can continue hearing some of what is happening around you while listening to music. This type of design can be useful while walking, working or wearing earbuds for a long time.

Vivo has also given the earbuds an IP55 rating for dust and water resistance.

12mm Drivers With Hi-Res Audio and LDAC

Vivo has used 12mm dual-magnetic moving coil drivers inside the Buds Clip. They support Hi-Res Audio Wireless and LDAC for higher-quality wireless audio with compatible devices.

The earbuds also support AAC, SBC and LC3 codecs. Vivo has included its DeepX 5.0 stereo sound effects, spatial audio and custom EQ settings, so users can adjust the sound according to what they are listening to.

Because these are open-ear earbuds, they don’t create the same seal as normal in-ear TWS earbuds. Vivo instead offers different audio modes, including Balanced, Voice Enhancement and Noise Reduction modes.

AI Call Noise Reduction Is Also Available

An open design can make calls difficult in noisy places, so Vivo has added AI-powered call noise reduction to the Buds Clip. The system uses bone-conduction technology to help identify the wearer’s voice and reduce surrounding noise during calls.

This should help when taking calls outdoors or in places where there are several people nearby. There is also intelligent volume adjustment, which can change the volume according to the surrounding environment.

Connect Three Devices at the Same Time

Multipoint connection is common on premium earbuds, but Vivo goes one step further here. The Buds Clip can stay connected with up to three devices at the same time. You can use them with phones, tablets and computers through Bluetooth 5.4.

This could be useful if you regularly switch between a laptop and phone without wanting to reconnect the earbuds every time. Vivo claims latency can go as low as 70ms. Compatible Vivo and iQOO devices also get additional pairing animations and ecosystem features.

Real-Time Translation Works With Compatible Phones

One of the more useful software features is real-time translation. When connected to a compatible Vivo or iQOO device, the Buds Clip can help translate conversations between supported languages. Vivo has also added AI broadcasting for alerts and other information.

The earbuds work with the company’s BlueOS ecosystem and support Find My Earbuds. Some of these smarter features depend on compatible Vivo or iQOO devices, so users connecting the Buds Clip to other Android phones may not get everything.

Vivo Buds Clip Offer Up to 42 Hours of Battery Life

Vivo claims the earbuds can provide up to 10 hours of playback on a single charge. With the charging case included, total playback can reach up to 42 hours.

Fast charging is available as well. A 10-minute charge can provide up to three hours of listening time, according to Vivo.

Vivo Buds Clip Price and Availability

The Vivo Buds Clip cost CNY 599 in China, which converts to roughly ₹8,600. Vivo offers them in Floating Purple, Moonlight White and Starry Night Black colour options.

The earbuds are currently available in China. Vivo hasn’t announced an India launch or price for the Buds Clip yet.

The open-ear design makes the Buds Clip quite different from Vivo’s regular TWS earbuds. Instead of trying to completely isolate you from your surroundings, Vivo is focusing on comfort, awareness and long listening sessions. The 42-hour battery, LDAC support and three-device connection add a few useful features on top of that.
