Samsung’s next Galaxy S phones are still months away from launch, but we are already getting an idea of what the company may be planning. A new leak has revealed some of the expected upgrades for the Samsung Galaxy S27 Series, including changes to the display, processor, battery and even the design of the Ultra model.
The lineup is expected to include the Galaxy S27, Galaxy S27 Plus, Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra. Samsung hasn’t confirmed these phones yet, so things can still change before launch. But if the latest information is correct, the S27 generation could bring some bigger hardware changes than we have seen in the last few years.
Galaxy S27 Ultra Could Get a New Look
Samsung may finally make some noticeable design changes with the Galaxy S27 Ultra. According to the latest reports, the phone could get a redesigned rear camera area with pill-shaped camera sections instead of keeping exactly the same individual camera-ring style.
The regular Galaxy S27 and S27 Plus are expected to stay closer to the previous design. Samsung is also reportedly moving away from the Edge model this time, while a new Galaxy S27 Pro could become another premium option between the regular phones and the Ultra.
Samsung M16 OLED Display Could Be a Big Upgrade
The display is where things start getting more interesting. Samsung is expected to use its newer M16 OLED technology across the Galaxy S27 lineup, replacing the older-generation OLED material used on previous models.
The M16 panel is expected to improve brightness, colour reproduction and power efficiency. Reports also mention COE or Colour Filter on Encapsulation technology, which could help Samsung make the display more efficient while maintaining good colours. If this happens, the screen upgrade may also help battery life rather than only making the display brighter.

Privacy Display May Reach More Models
Samsung has also been working on display privacy technology that makes it harder for someone standing beside you to see what is happening on your screen. This could be useful while entering passwords, checking messages or using banking apps in public places.
Some reports suggest Samsung could bring more of its privacy display technology to the S27 family, although exactly which models will receive it is still unclear. This is another detail where it is better to wait for Samsung’s official announcement before expecting it on every S27 model.
Snapdragon and Exynos Could Both Return
Samsung may again use different processors depending on the model and market. The Galaxy S27 Series has been linked with Qualcomm’s next-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite family as well as Samsung’s own upcoming Exynos 2700.
Some leaks suggest higher-end models could get a more powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chip, while the Exynos 2700 may appear in other S27 models or selected regions. The exact chipset distribution isn’t clear yet, so Indian buyers in particular should wait before assuming which processor they will get.
Battery Could Finally See a Bigger Change
Battery technology may also get an upgrade with the Galaxy S27 generation. Samsung is reportedly considering silicon-carbon batteries, which can provide higher capacity without requiring the phone to become much bigger or thicker.
The exact battery capacities of every model haven’t been confirmed. Earlier reports have suggested that the Galaxy S27 Ultra could move beyond the 5,000mAh capacity traditionally used by Samsung’s Ultra phones, with figures around 5,700mAh to 6,000mAh being discussed. For now, these numbers should still be treated as rumours.
Cameras Could Change on the Pro and Ultra
Camera upgrades are also expected, although they may not be the same across every model. Earlier leaks suggest the regular Galaxy S27 and S27 Plus could continue with a 50MP main camera but use a newer sensor, along with a 12MP ultra-wide camera.
The bigger changes could come to the Galaxy S27 Pro and Ultra. Reports have pointed towards a 50MP ultra-wide camera and improved selfie cameras on both, while the Ultra could continue with its more advanced multi-camera setup. The exact final camera combination is still not official.

When Could the Galaxy S27 Series Launch?
Samsung is expected to introduce the Galaxy S27 Series in early 2027, with the first quarter currently being the likely launch window. An exact launch date hasn’t been announced, and we are still quite far away from the official event.
There is plenty of time for more information to appear before then. For now, the newer M16 display, possible silicon-carbon battery and the return of both Snapdragon and Exynos chips are the upgrades worth watching. We should get a much clearer picture of the Galaxy S27 Series as the launch gets closer.
