If you don’t like putting earbuds inside your ears for long time, then Samsung has launched something different for you. The company has launched Samsung Galaxy Buds On with a clip-on design which sits around your ear instead of going inside it.

This is the first clip-on wireless earbuds in Samsung’s Galaxy Buds lineup. Galaxy Buds On comes with TwinBoost speakers, Audio Leakage Reduction and up to 9.5 hours of music playback. Samsung has also given Galaxy AI features like Gemini Live and Head Gestures.

Galaxy Buds On Has a Different Open-Ear Design

The first thing you notice looking at Samsung Galaxy Buds On is its design. Unlike normal Galaxy Buds which go inside your ear, these earbuds clip around the outside of your ear. Your ear canal remains open while you are listening to music.

If you go for running, walking or cycling then this type of design could be useful for you. You can listen to music while still hearing vehicles and other sounds around you. Samsung says it studied different ear shapes and adjusted the speaker, battery and band placement for better comfort.

TwinBoost Speakers With Audio Leakage Reduction

One problem with open-ear earbuds is that you don’t get the same bass because the speaker is not sitting directly inside your ear. Samsung has tried to improve this with its TwinBoost Speaker system which mainly focuses on improving lower frequencies.

Another problem is sound leakage. People sitting near you can sometimes hear what you are listening in open-ear earbuds. Samsung has given Audio Leakage Reduction to reduce this problem. There is also automatic volume adjustment which can change volume according to your surroundings.

Up to 9.5 Hours of Battery

If you use your earbuds for long hours, then battery is another important thing here. Samsung claims Galaxy Buds On can give up to 9.5 hours of continuous music playback on a single charge.

The earbuds use Qualcomm Snapdragon S7 Gen 1 Sound Platform along with a Class-D amplifier. Samsung says this combination also helps in reducing power consumption. However, the 9.5 hours is Samsung’s claimed figure and actual battery backup can be different depending on your volume and usage.

Three Microphones for Calls

Samsung has also focused on calls with Galaxy Buds On. You will get three microphones along with a bone-conduction based Voice Pickup Sensor. It is used to separate your voice from background noise during calls.

If you regularly take calls outside or in noisy places then this could be useful for you. Samsung says the earbuds can reduce noises like strong wind and household appliances so the other person can hear your voice more clearly.

Gemini Live and Head Gestures

If you are using a compatible Galaxy AI device, then you also get some AI features with Galaxy Buds On. You can start Gemini Live using your voice without taking out your phone.

There is also Quick Voice Memo for recording notes and you can later search them using Bixby. Head Gestures can be used for things like answering calls, dismissing alarms and checking message notifications without touching the earbuds.

Samsung Galaxy Buds On Price and Availability

Samsung Galaxy Buds On is priced at KRW 299,000, which is around ₹19,000–₹21,000 after direct conversion. It will first go on sale in South Korea from October 27 and Samsung is offering it in Black color.

Samsung has confirmed that Galaxy Buds On will later come to more countries, but there is no India launch date or Indian price confirmed for now. So the converted Korean price should not be considered its India price.

Open-ear earbuds are already available from different brands, so Galaxy Buds On is not really a new type of product. But this is Samsung’s first Galaxy Buds with this design. However, we will have to wait for its India price before comparing it properly with other open-ear earbuds available here.
