Redmi has added two more phones to its Note 17 series in India. The new Redmi Note 17 Pro and Redmi Note 17 Pro Max sit above the regular Note 17 and bring bigger batteries, 1.5K AMOLED displays and new Snapdragon processors.

The biggest highlight is easily the battery. The Redmi Note 17 Pro packs a huge 9,000mAh battery, while the Pro Max takes things even further with a 10,000mAh battery. Prices start at ₹36,999 for the Pro and ₹49,999 for the Pro Max.

Both Phones Get a Large 1.5K AMOLED Display

Redmi has used the same 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display on both phones. The screen supports up to a 120Hz refresh rate, so scrolling, animations and supported games should look smooth. It can also reach up to 3,500 nits of peak brightness.

Both phones support 12-bit colour and 3,840Hz PWM dimming. Redmi has also added Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection on the front. So you don’t have to buy the more expensive Pro Max just to get the better display, as the main screen specifications remain similar on both models.

Redmi Note 17 Pro Uses Snapdragon 6s Gen 4

The Redmi Note 17 Pro runs on the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 processor and comes with 8GB LPDDR4X RAM. You can choose between 128GB and 256GB storage, but there is one difference worth knowing before you buy.

The 128GB version uses UFS 2.2 storage, while the 256GB model gets faster UFS 3.1 storage. If you plan to use the phone for a few years, the 256GB version looks more practical because you get both more space and faster storage.

Pro Max Gets Snapdragon 6 Gen 5

The Redmi Note 17 Pro Max moves to the newer Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 processor. It also comes with up to 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB storage, giving it an advantage over the regular Pro when it comes to performance and memory.

This difference is important because there is a fairly big price gap between the two phones. The Pro Max isn’t just giving you a bigger battery. Redmi has also upgraded the processor, RAM and a few other areas to separate it from the regular Pro.

Pro Max Gets a Massive 10,000mAh Battery

Battery size is where the difference becomes much easier to notice. The Redmi Note 17 Pro comes with a 9,000mAh silicon-carbon battery and supports 67W wired charging. It also offers 22.5W reverse wired charging, so you can use the phone to charge smaller devices when needed.

The Pro Max pushes the battery to 10,000mAh and increases charging speed to 100W. It also supports 27W reverse charging. A 10,000mAh battery is unusually large for a regular smartphone, and this is clearly one of the main features Redmi wants to highlight with the Pro Max.

Cameras Are Similar, But Pro Max Gets a Few Upgrades

Both phones come with a 50MP main camera with OIS and an 8MP ultrawide camera. The Pro Max uses a larger Sony IMX882 sensor for its main camera, while Redmi has also added its own imaging chips to help with camera processing.

There is another difference on the front. The Redmi Note 17 Pro gets a 16MP selfie camera, while the Pro Max uses a 32MP front camera. So while the basic rear camera setup looks similar, the Pro Max still gets the better camera hardware overall.

Both Phones Focus Heavily on Durability

Redmi has also put plenty of attention into protection this year. Both phones come with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the front and strong protection against water and dust. The series carries IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings.

That should give users some extra peace of mind against rain, dust and accidental water exposure. Of course, these ratings don’t mean you should intentionally put the phone underwater, but this level of protection is still useful on a device you may keep for several years.

HyperOS 3 Comes With Long Software Support

Both phones run HyperOS 3 based on Android 16 out of the box. Redmi is promising four Android OS updates along with six years of security updates for the new Pro series.

That means software support shouldn’t become a problem too quickly if you plan to keep the phone for three or four years. Redmi is also adding its usual software features along with Google’s AI tools and other HyperOS features.

Redmi Note 17 Pro and Pro Max Price in India

The Redmi Note 17 Pro starts at ₹36,999 for the 8GB + 128GB model. The 8GB + 256GB version costs ₹39,999. Buyers can also get a ₹3,000 instant discount through eligible bank offers during the initial sale.

The Redmi Note 17 Pro Max starts at ₹49,999 for the 8GB + 256GB version, while the 12GB + 256GB model costs ₹55,999. An initial ₹5,000 instant discount is also available on the Pro Max through eligible offers.

Sale Starts on September 17

The two phones won’t go on sale on the same day. Redmi Note 17 Pro sales start in India on September 17, while buyers interested in the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max will have to wait until September 23.

Both phones will be available through Xiaomi’s official website, Amazon India and Xiaomi retail stores. With the Pro, Redmi is mainly offering a big battery and good display around the ₹37,000 mark, while the Pro Max adds a bigger battery, faster charging and better hardware for buyers willing to spend more.
