Most phones around ₹35,000 still come with batteries somewhere around 5,000mAh to 7,000mAh. POCO has gone much bigger with the new POCO X8 Power 5G. It packs a massive 10,000mAh battery, and that alone will probably be the first reason many people notice this phone.
The phone starts at ₹35,999 and also brings a 1.5K 120Hz AMOLED display, Snapdragon processor, fast charging and a 50MP main camera. But a huge battery alone isn’t enough to make a ₹35,999 phone worth buying. So let’s look at what else you are getting for the money. We haven’t personally used the phone, so this review is based on its specifications and available information.
That 10,000mAh Battery Is the Main Reason to Look at It
There is no point pretending otherwise. The 10,000mAh battery is easily the biggest highlight of the POCO X8 Power 5G. That’s almost twice the capacity we used to get in a normal smartphone just a few years ago.
For someone who spends a lot of time travelling, gaming, watching videos or using mobile data, having this much battery could be genuinely useful. You may not have to think about carrying a power bank every time you are away from a charger for a long time.

But battery capacity doesn’t tell us exactly how long the phone will last. Display brightness, gaming, 5G usage and software optimisation will all make a difference. We would need proper battery testing before saying whether this is really a two-day or three-day phone.

Thankfully, Charging Isn’t Too Slow
Putting a 10,000mAh battery inside a phone wouldn’t be very useful if it took half the day to charge. POCO has paired the large battery with fast wired charging.
That should make charging more manageable, although a battery this large will naturally take longer to fill than a regular 5,000mAh phone using a similar charging speed.
There is also reverse charging support, which makes more sense on a phone like this. With 10,000mAh available, you can use the X8 Power to give some battery to another phone or accessory when needed.
POCO X8 Power 5G Specifications
| Feature | Details |

| Battery | 10,000mAh |

The battery is obviously the number that stands out here, but the rest of the hardware matters just as much once you are spending ₹35,999.
The Display Looks Good on Paper
POCO has used a 1.5K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. That’s the kind of screen I would expect at this price, and it should be a noticeable step up from the HD+ and Full HD+ LCD panels found on cheaper battery-focused phones.

The 120Hz refresh rate should keep scrolling and animations smooth, while the higher resolution should help with text and videos. An AMOLED panel also gives you deeper blacks and better contrast than a basic LCD.
Of course, things like outdoor visibility and colour tuning need to be tested on the actual phone. But there isn’t anything obviously missing from the display specifications on paper.
What About Performance?
The POCO X series has generally tried to offer strong performance without going all the way into flagship pricing, and the X8 Power follows a similar idea with a Snapdragon chipset.
For normal use, there shouldn’t be much concern about WhatsApp, Instagram, YouTube, Chrome or switching between everyday apps. The more important question is gaming, especially because someone buying a 10,000mAh phone may want to spend long hours playing games.
We haven’t tested its sustained performance, heating or frame rates, so I wouldn’t call it a gaming phone just from the processor specification. Those are things that need proper testing.
50MP Camera Sounds Fine, but Don’t Buy It Only for That
There is a 50MP main camera at the back along with additional camera hardware. For normal daylight photos, social media pictures and document scanning, the setup looks fine on paper.

But ₹35,999 is also a price where camera quality starts to matter more. Simply writing 50MP on the specifications sheet doesn’t tell us how well the phone handles skin tones, HDR, night photos or moving subjects.
If photography is your first priority, I would wait for proper camera samples before choosing the X8 Power mainly for its camera.
Does a 10,000mAh Battery Make the Phone Too Big?
This is probably the first thing many people will wonder about. A few years ago, putting a 10,000mAh battery inside a phone would have made it extremely thick and heavy.
Newer silicon-carbon battery technology allows companies to fit much more capacity into a smaller space. Even then, don’t expect a 10,000mAh phone to feel exactly like a thin 5,000mAh flagship.
If you prefer very light phones, the final weight and thickness are worth checking before buying. But if battery life is your main priority, carrying a little extra weight may be a trade-off you are willing to make.
POCO X8 Power 5G Price in India
The POCO X8 Power 5G starts at ₹35,999 in India. That puts it well above the budget and lower mid-range phones where we normally see brands focusing heavily on battery capacity.
At this price, the phone has to do more than simply last a long time. Buyers will also expect a good display, fast performance, decent cameras and software support.
This is why the 10,000mAh battery is a big advantage, but it shouldn’t be the only thing you check before spending ₹35,999.
Is the POCO X8 Power 5G Worth Buying?
If battery life is always your biggest problem with smartphones, the POCO X8 Power 5G immediately becomes interesting. A 10,000mAh battery gives it something that most phones around this price simply don’t offer.
The 1.5K AMOLED display and other hardware also mean POCO hasn’t built a phone that is only about battery capacity. Still, ₹35,999 isn’t cheap. At this price, there are phones that may offer better cameras, stronger performance or a lighter design depending on what you need.
So I wouldn’t buy the X8 Power just because the 10,000mAh number looks impressive. If you actually need very long battery life and don’t mind a potentially bigger phone, it looks interesting on paper. If camera quality, gaming performance or a slim design matters more, compare it with other phones around ₹35,000 before deciding.
And since we haven’t personally used the POCO X8 Power 5G, we would wait for proper battery, camera and performance testing before giving it a final verdict.
