If you are using a Vivo or iQOO phone and waiting for Android 17, we finally have a better idea of when the update will reach different devices. Vivo has shared the OriginOS 7 Update Timeline, its new software based on Android 17.

As usual, the update isn’t coming to every phone on the same day. Vivo will start with its newer flagship phones and then slowly bring OriginOS 7 to more Vivo and iQOO models over the next few months.

OriginOS 7 Rollout Starts With Flagship Phones

The first batch mainly covers Vivo and iQOO’s newer flagship devices. These phones will be among the first to move to Android 17-based OriginOS 7.

After that, Vivo will start adding older flagship and mid-range models in the next batches. So if you have an older Vivo X-series phone or one of the iQOO Neo models, you may have to wait a little longer.

The important thing is that the date mentioned in the timeline is when the rollout starts. It doesn’t mean every user with that phone will get the update on the same day.

OriginOS 7 Update Timeline for Vivo Phones

Vivo has divided the rollout into batches instead of pushing one huge update to all eligible devices together. Newer X-series phones sit near the top of the list, followed by previous-generation X-series and other supported models.

Rollout PeriodVivo Phones
First BatchLatest Vivo X-series flagship models
Next BatchPrevious-generation Vivo X-series phones
Later BatchesEligible older X-series and other supported Vivo phones

This is also why you may see someone with the same phone getting OriginOS 7 before you. Vivo can release the update to a small number of users first and expand it once everything looks fine.

iQOO Phones Will Also Get Android 17

iQOO is following a similar rollout. Its newer flagship phones will get OriginOS 7 first, while eligible Neo and other models will join later.

First BatchLatest iQOO flagship models
Next BatchPrevious flagship models
Later BatchesEligible iQOO Neo and other supported phones

The exact update date can still differ from one model to another, so it is better to check the timeline for your particular phone instead of assuming every iQOO device will update together.

What’s New in OriginOS 7?

OriginOS 7 is based on Android 17, but Vivo has also made its own changes on top. The new version brings a refreshed interface along with changes to animations, system apps and several parts of the UI.

Vivo is also focusing on making the software feel smoother during normal use. You should notice most of the changes while opening apps, moving around the interface and using everyday system features rather than through one single big feature.

Indian Vivo and iQOO Users Should Check Their Region

There is one thing you need to be careful about while checking an OriginOS update timeline. Vivo’s software rollout can differ between China and other markets.

A phone receiving OriginOS 7 in China doesn’t automatically mean the Indian version will get the same update on the same date. The model may be the same, but software availability can depend on the region.

So if you are using a Vivo or iQOO phone in India, check the update information released for the Indian version of your device before expecting it on a particular day.

How to Check for the OriginOS 7 Update

Once the update starts rolling out for your phone, you can check it directly from Settings > System Update. If OriginOS 7 is available, you should see the new software version along with the download option.

If nothing appears, you don’t need to download the update from another website. Vivo normally sends major updates in batches, so your phone may receive it a few days after the first users.

When Will Your Vivo or iQOO Phone Get OriginOS 7?

That mainly depends on which phone you have. Newer flagship models are getting priority, while older flagships and mid-range phones will follow in later batches.

And even after your phone’s rollout begins, the update may take a few days to appear on your device. So the easiest thing to do is check Settings > System Update from time to time and wait for the official OTA.

OriginOS 7 is Vivo’s big Android 17 update, and more Vivo and iQOO phones will be added as the rollout moves forward.
