OnePlus has finally given us a date for its next flagship phone. The OnePlus 16 will launch in China on October 12, and gaming is clearly one of the main areas the company is focusing on this time.
The phone will come with a 185Hz display and support native 185fps gaming in selected titles. OnePlus has also confirmed its latest gaming technologies, Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor and a 200MP main camera. Some other details, including the battery capacity, are still based on leaks.
OnePlus 16 Launch Date Is October 12
The OnePlus 16 will make its debut in China on October 12. The date was announced during the company’s gaming event, where OnePlus also showed more of the gaming features coming with the phone.
For now, this date is for China. OnePlus hasn’t confirmed an India launch date, so we will have to wait for a separate announcement about availability outside China.
185Hz Display With Native 185fps Gaming
OnePlus is increasing the gaming refresh rate to 185Hz on its new flagship. More importantly, the company isn’t using that number only as a display specification. Selected games will be able to run natively at up to 185fps.
Of course, you shouldn’t expect every game to suddenly run at 185fps. Games need to support the higher frame rate, and OnePlus is working with developers to expand the number of compatible titles.

New Gaming Chips Handle Different Tasks
OnePlus has also introduced dedicated hardware for gaming. The phone uses separate chips to handle areas such as touch response, display processing and network performance instead of relying only on the main processor.
The new Lingxi T3 touch chip supports up to 520Hz multi-finger touch sampling. Meanwhile, the display chip focuses on fast-moving scenes, while another dedicated chip handles network performance during gaming.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 Is Confirmed
The OnePlus 16 will use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor. It is a 2nm flagship chip with CPU speeds reaching up to 5GHz, and OnePlus is combining it with its own gaming optimisations.
OnePlus has also shown an AnTuTu score above 5.3 million for the phone. Benchmark scores don’t tell us exactly how a phone will perform during long gaming sessions, but the hardware clearly puts the OnePlus 16 in the flagship category.
