We have been seeing OnePlus 16 leaks for the last few months, but we no longer have to depend on leaked images to know what the phone looks like. OnePlus has now officially shown the design of its next flagship and opened pre-orders in China. The listing also confirms three colour options and four RAM and storage variants.
OnePlus still hasn’t announced the exact launch date. Reports have been pointing towards an October launch in China, so the company could reveal the date soon. For now, the pre-order listing gives us our clearest look at the OnePlus 16 before the full launch.
OnePlus 16 Comes in Three Colours
OnePlus will sell the phone in three finishes in China. Their translated names are Tomorrow Starlight, Dark Forest and Martian Masterpiece. The basic shape remains similar across all three, with rounded corners, flat sides and a large camera section on the back.
Tomorrow Starlight is the more unusual option. OnePlus has added a light effect to the rear panel that can illuminate parts of the design, including the OnePlus logo and coordinates printed on the back. Dark Forest gives the phone a darker green look, while Martian Masterpiece uses a warmer finish.
New AI Button Is Also Visible
The official images also show a button on the left side of the phone. OnePlus is calling it a customisable AI key, and users should be able to assign different functions to it.
On the back, the OnePlus 16 uses a large camera module with rounded corners. The official images show three rear cameras along with the flash. We will have to wait for the launch to know exactly how OnePlus plans to use each camera.

Up to 16GB RAM and 1TB Storage
The China pre-order listing has also confirmed four memory options. OnePlus isn’t bringing back the 8GB RAM version that appeared in some earlier leaks.
| RAM | Storage |
|---|---|
| 12GB | 256GB |
| 12GB | 512GB |
| 16GB | 512GB |
| 16GB | 1TB |
The 16GB + 1TB model will sit at the top of the lineup. OnePlus hasn’t revealed the prices yet, so we will have to wait until the launch for that.
What Else Do We Know About OnePlus 16?
OnePlus has already confirmed that the phone will use a 165Hz display and an upcoming flagship Snapdragon processor. The company has also talked about three gaming-focused technologies for the phone.
Leaks add more details to the picture. The OnePlus 16 could use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro processor and a 6.78-inch custom BOE display. Some reports suggest the screen could reach 185Hz in supported gaming situations.
The camera setup could include a 200MP main camera, a 50MP ultrawide and a 50MP periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. A 50MP camera is also expected on the front.
A 9,000mAh Battery Is Also Expected
Battery size could become one of the biggest upgrades on the OnePlus 16. Recent leaks point towards a huge 9,000mAh battery, which would be much larger than what we normally see on flagship phones.
The phone could support 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. However, OnePlus hasn’t confirmed these battery and charging details yet, so it is better to wait for the official launch before treating them as final.
When Will OnePlus 16 Launch?
OnePlus hasn’t given us the launch date yet, even though pre-orders are now open in China. Current reports point towards an October launch.
There is also no official India launch date at the moment. We should know more once OnePlus announces the China event.
For now, at least the design is no longer a mystery. The three colours, new AI button and up to 16GB RAM with 1TB storage are now official. The next things to watch are the launch date, price and whether the leaked 9,000mAh battery and 200MP camera make it to the final phone.
