OnePlus has finally started talking about the OnePlus 16 after weeks of leaks. The company has confirmed that its next flagship will get a system-wide 165Hz refresh rate, which means the higher refresh rate won’t be limited to only a few supported games.

And now we have another update. A OnePlus phone believed to be the OnePlus 16 has appeared on China’s 3C certification website. The listing gives us an early idea about its charging speed before the phone officially launches.

OnePlus 16 Could Support 100W Charging

The phone appeared on 3C with model number PYB110, which reports have linked to the Chinese OnePlus 16. The certification lists compatible power adapters and points to support for up to 100W wired fast charging.

Interestingly, the OnePlus 15 supports 120W wired charging in China. So on paper, 100W may look like a downgrade. But charging speed alone doesn’t tell us the complete battery story, especially because leaks are pointing towards a much bigger battery this time.

165Hz Will Work Across the Phone

OnePlus has officially confirmed a system-wide 165Hz refresh rate for the OnePlus 16. This is more useful than simply putting a 165Hz panel on the phone and limiting the full refresh rate to selected games.

It should allow the phone to use the higher refresh rate across more parts of the interface and supported apps. OnePlus is calling it a “global” 165Hz experience, although we will have to wait for the phone to see exactly how it handles the refresh rate in everyday use.

OnePlus 16 Will Run ColorOS 17

Another thing we don’t have to guess about is the software. OnePlus has confirmed that the Chinese OnePlus 16 will come with ColorOS 17 based on Android 17.

This will make it one of the first OnePlus phones to ship with the new software out of the box. ColorOS 17 itself brings a redesigned interface, new animations and several visual changes compared with the previous version.

What We Know About the OnePlus 16 So Far

SoftwareAndroid 17-based ColorOS 17
Wired Charging100W indicated by 3C listing
Model NumberPYB110
Battery9,000mAh rumoured
Main Camera200MP rumoured
ProcessorSnapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro rumoured

The important thing here is that the battery, camera and processor details haven’t been officially confirmed yet.

A 9,000mAh Battery Is Also Rumoured

Leaks suggest that OnePlus could pack a huge 9,000mAh battery inside the OnePlus 16. If that turns out to be correct, it would be a big jump from the 7,300mAh battery found in the OnePlus 15.

The phone is also tipped to support 50W wireless charging. But unlike the 165Hz display and ColorOS 17, OnePlus hasn’t confirmed these battery details yet.

Camera Could Get a Big Upgrade Too

Another leak points to a 200MP main camera, joined by a 50MP ultrawide and a 50MP periscope telephoto camera. A 50MP camera could also sit on the front.

OnePlus may also use Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset. Again, these details are coming from leaks, so it is better to wait before treating them as final specifications.

Launch Date Is Still Missing

OnePlus has started teasing the phone in China, but it hasn’t announced the exact launch date yet. Current reports point towards an October launch, which would put the OnePlus 16 roughly in the same flagship launch season as its predecessor.

For now, the system-wide 165Hz display and ColorOS 17 are official, while the 3C certification gives us a good indication of 100W charging. If the leaked 9,000mAh battery and 200MP camera also turn out to be correct, the OnePlus 16 could bring some pretty big hardware changes this year.
