Lava Bold N4 Pro Review

If you are buying a phone around ₹14,000, you probably want a few basic things to be good. The phone should handle normal apps without trouble, battery should last properly, storage should be enough and 5G is almost expected now. Lava’s new Bold N4 Pro tries to cover all of these at a special launch price of ₹13,999.

You get 6GB RAM, 128GB storage, a 6,000mAh battery, 120Hz display, 50MP rear camera and Android 16 in Lava Bold N4 Pro. These specifications look good for the price, but there are two things you should know before buying it. The display is only HD+ and that big battery gets just 18W charging. We haven’t personally used the phone, so this review is based on its official specifications and available information.

Lava Bold N4 Pro Gets a 120Hz Display

The phone has a large 6.75-inch LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate. So scrolling through Instagram, Chrome, settings and other apps should feel smooth. Even budget phones are now moving towards 90Hz and 120Hz screens, so it is good that Lava hasn’t gone with a basic 60Hz panel here.

But there is a catch. The resolution is only HD+. On a 6.75-inch screen, Full HD+ would have been better, especially if you watch a lot of YouTube or movies. So you are getting a smooth screen, but not a very sharp one.

How Good Is the Unisoc T8200?

Lava is using the Unisoc T8200 processor in the Bold N4 Pro. It is a 5G chipset and comes with 6GB LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB UFS 2.2 storage. There is also an option to use virtual RAM.

This setup should be enough if most of your day involves WhatsApp, Instagram, YouTube, Chrome, UPI apps and some casual gaming. But if your main reason for buying a phone is heavy gaming, I wouldn’t choose it only by looking at the specifications. We haven’t tested its gaming performance or heating ourselves.

6,000mAh Battery Is Good, 18W Charging Is Not

The 6,000mAh battery is something I like about this phone on paper. If you spend most of your time calling, watching videos, using social media and browsing the internet, having a bigger battery is always useful.

The problem is the 18W charging. A 6,000mAh battery is quite large, and charging it at 18W is going to take time. If you normally charge your phone overnight, this may not bother you much. But if you often plug in your phone for 20 or 30 minutes before going out, faster charging would have been much more useful.

What About the 50MP Camera?

You get a 50MP main camera at the back and an 8MP selfie camera. For a ₹13,999 phone, that sounds fine, but I wouldn’t judge the camera just from the 50MP number.

What matters more is how the phone handles faces, colours, HDR and photos at night. Since we haven’t personally clicked photos with the Bold N4 Pro, I won’t say that its camera is very good or bad. For normal photos, video calls, document scanning and occasional social media pictures, the camera setup looks fine on paper.

Android 16 Out of the Box

The Bold N4 Pro comes with Android 16 out of the box. This is good to see on a budget phone because you are starting with a newer Android version instead of buying a new phone that is already one generation behind.

Lava phones are also known for keeping the software closer to normal Android instead of changing every part of the interface. If you prefer a simple Android experience, this is something you may like.

You Also Get IP64 Protection

Lava has given the phone an IP64 rating. This doesn’t make it waterproof, but it gives you some protection against dust and water splashes. So normal splashes or getting caught in light rain shouldn’t be as worrying as they would be on a phone with no IP rating.

The phone comes in Monaco Blue and Opulent Lilac colours and uses a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

Lava Bold N4 Pro Price in India

The 6GB RAM and 128GB storage model has a special launch price of ₹13,999. It will go on sale through Amazon from September 26 at 12 PM.

At ₹13,999, the phone gives you 5G, 6GB RAM, 128GB storage and a 6,000mAh battery. That’s a decent combination. But the budget 5G segment has plenty of options now, so you should still check what other phones are selling for around ₹14,000 when the sale starts.

Should You Buy the Lava Bold N4 Pro?

If your budget is around ₹14,000 and you mainly want a phone for normal everyday use, the Lava Bold N4 Pro has most of the things you will need. The 6,000mAh battery, 6GB RAM, 128GB storage, 5G and Android 16 are all useful additions at this price.

The two things I would think about before buying are the HD+ display and 18W charging. If you watch a lot of content and want a sharper screen, or if fast charging matters to you, check the alternatives before deciding.

But if battery, storage, 5G and simple everyday use matter more to you, the Bold N4 Pro looks like a decent ₹13,999 phone on paper. We haven’t personally used the device, so I would still wait for proper camera, battery and performance testing before making a final decision only from the specifications.
