Apple has officially launched the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max at its September event. The new Pro models bring upgrades to the camera, performance, battery life and Apple Intelligence while keeping the familiar premium design of the iPhone Pro lineup.
Both phones come with Apple’s new A20 Pro chip, a 48MP main camera with variable aperture and iOS 27. Apple has also introduced a new Burgundy colour alongside Black, Silver and Glacier.
iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max Price in India
The iPhone 18 Pro starts at ₹1,64,900 in India, while the larger iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at ₹1,79,900. Apple offers both models with 256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB storage options.
Pre-orders for the new iPhones will begin in India on September 12. Apple will start selling both models from September 18 through its online store, retail stores and authorised sellers.
| Model | Starting Price |
|---|---|
| iPhone 18 Pro | ₹1,64,900 |
| iPhone 18 Pro Max | ₹1,79,900 |
New 48MP Camera With Variable Aperture
The camera is one of the biggest upgrades on the iPhone 18 Pro series. Apple has added a new 48MP Fusion main camera with a variable aperture system, giving users more control over their photos.
The variable aperture can adjust according to different lighting conditions. It also gives users better control over depth of field, which can help while taking portraits and other creative shots.
Apple has also added new Pro controls inside the Camera app. These controls allow users to adjust more camera settings directly and give photographers more flexibility while capturing photos and videos.

A20 Pro Chip Brings More Performance
Both the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max use Apple’s new A20 Pro chip. Apple has designed the new processor to improve performance, graphics, battery efficiency and AI-related tasks.
The company has also added a next-generation vapour chamber cooling system. It helps the phone manage heat during demanding tasks such as gaming, video editing and other heavy workloads.
Apple says the combination of the A20 Pro chip and improved cooling provides the highest sustained performance on an iPhone so far.
Siri AI and Apple Intelligence
The iPhone 18 Pro series runs iOS 27 out of the box and comes with the latest Apple Intelligence features. Apple has also introduced its upgraded Siri AI experience on the new phones.
Siri can use personal context to provide more useful responses and complete tasks across supported apps. Apple continues to process many AI tasks directly on the device, while more demanding requests can use its Private Cloud Compute system.
The new AI features work together with the A20 Pro chip to improve everyday tasks without making users depend entirely on cloud processing.
Improved Battery Life
Apple has also focused on battery life with the iPhone 18 Pro series. The company says both phones provide better battery performance than their previous-generation models.
The iPhone 18 Pro Max receives the bigger improvement and offers the longest battery life of the two models. Apple credits the A20 Pro chip, a larger battery and other hardware improvements for the increase.
The larger Pro Max will naturally appeal more to users who regularly watch videos, play games or use their phones for long periods.
New Colours and Smaller Dynamic Island
Apple offers the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max in four colours: Black, Silver, Glacier and a new Burgundy finish. The Burgundy option gives buyers a fresh choice compared with the more traditional Pro colours.
Apple has also made the Dynamic Island smaller on both phones. The smaller cutout gives users slightly more usable screen space while keeping features such as alerts and Live Activities easily accessible.
Both models continue Apple’s premium Pro design while focusing most of this year’s changes on cameras, performance, battery and AI.
