Instagram Tagged Posts

Instagram is rolling out a new feature that gives users more control over what appears on their profile. You can now add a post you’re tagged in directly to your main Instagram profile grid instead of keeping it only inside the separate Tagged section.

The feature is rolling out globally and can be useful for group photos, memories and creator collaborations. More importantly, you don’t have to upload the same photo or video again just to show it on your main profile.

Tagged Posts Can Now Appear on Your Main Grid

Until now, posts in which someone tagged you normally appeared under the Tagged section of your Instagram profile. They remained separate from the photos and videos available on your main grid.

Instagram is now changing that. If someone tags you in a post that you want to show on your profile, you can add it directly to the main grid.

The original post will remain on the account that uploaded it. Instagram doesn’t create another copy of the post when you add it to your grid.

How to Add a Tagged Post to Your Instagram Grid

Instagram is giving users three ways to use the new option.

You can add a tagged post directly from the DM notification you receive when someone tags you. You can also open the tagged post, tap the three-dot menu and select the option to add it to your grid.

There is another easy method as well. Open the Tagged section on your Instagram profile, press and hold the post you want and choose Add to grid.

The post will then appear alongside your other posts on the main profile.

You Can Remove the Post Later

Adding a tagged post to your grid doesn’t mean it has to stay there permanently. If you change your mind later, Instagram lets you remove it from the main grid.

Doing this will not delete the original post. It will also continue to appear in your Tagged section unless you separately remove the tag.

This makes the feature useful for users who regularly change the appearance of their Instagram profiles.

Privacy Settings Will Still Apply

Adding someone else’s post to your grid doesn’t automatically make that post available to everyone. Who can see it will still depend on the privacy settings of both accounts.

For example, adding a post from a private account to your grid doesn’t suddenly make the original post public. Instagram will continue to follow the existing privacy settings of the accounts involved.

You also don’t get editing control over the original photo or video simply because it appears on your grid.

Useful for Creators and Regular Users

The feature may be especially useful for creators who frequently appear in collaborations, events or brand posts. Instead of uploading the same content again, they can choose a tagged post and display it with their own uploads.

Regular Instagram users can use it in a similar way. A group picture uploaded by a friend, an old memory or any other tagged post can now become part of the main profile without requiring a separate upload.

Instagram has already introduced more profile customisation options this year, including the ability to reorder posts on the profile grid. The new tagged-post option gives users another way to decide what visitors see when they open their profile.

The feature has started rolling out globally, so it may not appear on every account immediately. Once available, users should see the Add to grid option while interacting with a post in which they have been tagged.
