If you are buying a phone around ₹17,000, you will probably find many models with a 5,000mAh or 6,000mAh battery. Ai+ is trying to offer something bigger with the Nova 2 Power 5G. It comes with a 7,000mAh battery, and that is probably the first reason someone will consider this phone.
But battery is not the only thing that matters while buying a phone. The AI+ Nova 2 Power 5G also has a Dimensity 7100 processor, 120Hz display, 48MP Sony camera and Android 16. The price starts at ₹16,999. So, let’s see where this phone looks good and where Ai+ has made some compromises.
The 7,000mAh Battery Is What Makes This Phone Different
Let’s start with the biggest feature. You get a 7,000mAh battery, which is much bigger than the 5,000mAh battery we have been using on phones for years.
This should be useful if you use your phone a lot for YouTube, Instagram, WhatsApp, calls and mobile data. It also means you don’t have to choose a very basic phone just because you want a bigger battery.

The only thing that looks average here is 33W charging. It will charge the phone faster than normal charging, but 7,000mAh is a big battery. We would have liked to see faster charging at this price.

Performance Should Be Fine for Normal Users
The Nova 2 Power 5G uses the MediaTek Dimensity 7100 processor. This is a 6nm 5G chip with a maximum clock speed of 2.4GHz.
For normal use, there shouldn’t be much to worry about. Apps like WhatsApp, Instagram, Chrome, YouTube and other everyday apps should run fine. You should also be able to play normal games without buying the phone specifically as a gaming device.
There are two options — 6GB RAM with 128GB storage and 8GB RAM with 128GB storage. You can also add a microSD card of up to 1TB. That is useful because many phones are slowly removing the memory card slot.
The Display Is Where Ai+ Has Cut the Cost
You get a big 6.75-inch screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. So scrolling through apps and menus should feel smooth.
But there is one thing you should know before buying it. This is an HD+ IPS LCD and not a Full HD+ or AMOLED display. On a 6.75-inch screen, the difference in sharpness can be noticeable, especially while reading small text or watching high-quality videos.

This is probably the biggest weakness of the phone on paper. At around ₹17,000, there are phones available with Full HD+ and AMOLED displays. So if you watch a lot of movies and care about display quality, keep this in mind.
You Get a 48MP Sony Camera
On the back, there is a 48MP main camera using the Sony IMX582 sensor. The second camera is an 8MP ultrawide. It is good that Ai+ has given an actual ultrawide camera instead of adding a 2MP depth sensor just to show more cameras on the back.
You can use the ultrawide when you want to fit more people, buildings or scenery into one photo. There is a 13MP camera on the front. The rear camera can record videos at up to 2K 30fps.

We wouldn’t buy this phone only for its cameras, but the setup looks fine for someone who mostly takes normal photos for social media and everyday use.
It Comes With Android 16
Another good thing is that the Nova 2 Power 5G comes with Android 16 out of the box. Ai+ uses its own NxtQ OS on top. The company is promoting NxtQ OS as an India-focused operating system with privacy features.
But Ai+ is still a newer smartphone brand, so we would like to see how regularly it provides Android and security updates over the next few years. If you change your phone every two or three years, this may not matter much. But people who keep their phones for four or five years should consider software updates as well.
Big Battery Also Means a Heavy Phone
A 7,000mAh battery has to go somewhere, and you can see that in the weight. The phone weighs 222 grams. That doesn’t make it unusually difficult to use, but it is definitely on the heavier side.
If you like lightweight phones, you should keep this in mind before buying. You do get an IP65 rating, which gives some protection against dust and water. There is also a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, USB Type-C, Bluetooth 5.4 and 5G support.

Which Variant Should You Buy?
The 6GB RAM and 128GB storage model costs ₹16,999. The 8GB RAM and 128GB storage version costs ₹17,999.
| Variant | Price |
|---|---|
| 6GB + 128GB | ₹16,999 |
| 8GB + 128GB | ₹17,999 |
There is only a ₹1,000 difference between them. If your budget allows it, spending that extra ₹1,000 for 8GB RAM makes more sense. Storage remains the same, but the extra RAM can help if you keep several apps open or plan to use the phone for a few years.
Should You Buy the Ai+ Nova 2 Power 5G?
If your current phone keeps running out of battery before the day ends, the 7,000mAh battery is a good reason to look at the Nova 2 Power 5G. You are also getting a decent Dimensity 7100 processor, 120Hz refresh rate, 5G, Android 16 and expandable storage.
But don’t buy it only after looking at the battery number. The HD+ LCD is the biggest thing you need to think about. You are spending around ₹17,000, and there are phones in this range with sharper Full HD+ or AMOLED screens. The 222-gram weight and 33W charging are two more things to remember.
For someone who wants a big battery first and everything else second, the Nova 2 Power 5G makes more sense. But if display quality is equally important to you, compare it with a few other phones around ₹17,000 before making the payment.
